A. EPA requires certification of Ethanol gasolines by:
- Doing hand-blend of gasoline with 10% Ethanol
- Measuring the cocktail properties in a Lab using ASTM test methods
Match blending is the practice in which a finished product’s properties are matched with finished ethanol boosted gasoline specs. This is done as the EPA requires certification of ethanol gasolines by performing an “automated hand-blend equivalent“ of gasoline with 10% ethanol.

A. This method allows bypassing hand blend of ethanol in the laboratory, saving time and manpower

- Ethanol tanks and plumbing

- Control system and software for dosing input to the analyzer
- Blend optimizer modifications to compare with ethanol specs
